...it's a dog's life[with a cat or 2 thrown in...]

she is wagging her tail...really...
this soulful pose is for those of you...
who, like me, can get lost in those eyes...

we just had another walk...
and met a nasty fox terrier...
whose owner said was "very dog-aggressive"...
so we gave him a very wide berth as he yapped away...

when we were past...
Molly looked over her shoulder & barked...
he must have invoked the ultimate canine "yo mama"...

arriving back home...I put down her dinner...
[1/2 can + 1/2 cup dry]
which she ate quickly...

after a good drink...she flopped down next to me...
while Lacy was "investigating" a catnip mouse...
of course... there were other probable reasons for her "nearness"...

I had moved the cat food dish, "up"...
since she was stalking it earlier...
she made NO move towards it...
I think she was letting me know, that she knew...
where it was...

or maybe I've lived with cats too long...

because I'm used to this kind of "deftness"...

here we have what looks like an innocent "gathering"...

but only if you don't know the participants...

Thomas is "pretending" to care about the catnip toy...
that he just bullied away from Lacy...
Thomas couldn't care less about the toy...
and really wasn't trying to bother Lacy...

he was after Sneaky Pie...
who has now positioned herself next to Molly...
since she has discovered that being near Molly is "golden"...
because Thomas hasn't gotten comfortable enough around the dog...
to be aggressive towards Sneaky in front of her...

and Sneaky Pie, opportunist that she is...
is playing it for all she can...
[it's like one of those survivor shows...
where players build alliances against the others...]
besides that... she likes Molly...

both she & Gracie have really warmed to her...
which makes sense as they are the youngest...
and much less set in their ways than Thomas...
and...they are pure opportunists...

though Mattie, the oldest seems to like Molly just fine...
but then, he lived with dogs as a kitten...
barely escaping being "dog chow" from the account I heard...
but then, Mattie is not a "grudge-holding" kind of cat...

the only time I've seen any felines scatter...
is when Molly starts "singing"...
some of them don't seem to mind...
others, music critics that they are, scatter...

but they seem to get along so well...
it's quite amazing...
especially since it's only been about a week & a half...
and Molly's been at the vet's for about half of that...

I can't wait to see what's next...
