this...was me... the last couple of days...
as most people of my age will admit...
especially those of us who do NOT work...
with computers on a daily basis...
being able to "troubleshoot" tech problems...
involves a vocabulary & skill subset...
[as well as a certain geeky mindset...]
we just don't have at our finger or neuron tips...
the "new, improved Blogger comments format"...
would not work for me...
I couldn't leave comments on my on blog...
NOR...
would it allow me to comment on the blog of anyone else...
who was using it...
AND... to further scramble my "gray matter"...
quite suddenly...
Blogger was loading images in the reverse order...
of the way it had always been before...
I could outsmart in reverse order thing...
once I knew it was happening...
and I managed to repair my own blunder...
in re-setting my "comments" format...
to the "old school version"...
[I could probably use the new one NOW...
but I like the avatar pictures...
& they are not in the new format...]
so that comments could be left on my posts...
[I had to do it manually...thanks Blogger...]
anyway...
I, in typical catsinger/librarian fashion...
put on my "thinking cap"...
[there is a solution for every problem...
you just have to find it...]
I did enough research/trial & error [mostly error...]
to realize that my "presence" was not being recognized...
by the new comment format...
some vague memory about "cookies" floated across my consciousness...
so I went through "help" topics on comments & cookies...
finally I found a step-by-step guide in Google...
describing how to set/clear/enable cookies in browsers...
finding Firefox [Mac]...I followed the instructions...
and discovered that there was a "box unchecked"...
in the "enable cookies" preferences section...
the box was "checked"...
and I went to MM's blog...
where I hadn't been recognized...
I scrolled down to the comment box...
and there it was...
"catsinger:Google"...
recognition... at last...
in true feline fashion...
I've been gloating ever since...
which leaves me with one message for Blogger/Firefox...
from all of us "gray panthers"...

I've only been doing this for a bit over a year...and you're already ahead of me[it took me 6 mos to get an avatar...
relax...Blogger hiccoughs sometimes...
but generally...you can get around it..
if you get stuck...just ask someone to help... even long distance help can do a lot...
come back again...
