2:08 AM....
her : "whine... WHINE..."
me : "OK...I'm coming..."[I learn fast...]
outside/inside...only an hour to get back to sleep...
last night I learned that Molly learns fast too...
she learned that I will fumble around...
trying to give her a pill... with the E collar on...
so after she spit it out 3 times...
[OK, so I didn't learn THAT fast...]
I had a bolt of inspiration...
since I had just put out a can of cat food...
I grabbed a clump and put the now soggy amoxicillin pill inside...
she gobbled it down...
so this morning, I did the same thing...
she then realized that she was hungry...
and came in to eat her food...
she ate 1/2 can of "stew" & 1/2 C dry...
and while she thought I wasn't looking...
moved over to the cat food dish, real slick...
catching her in mid-slurp, I told her, no...
she stopped...
then lay next to me...
watching the cat food dish...
then went into her nest...
I'm getting ready to take her to the vet, AGAIN...
when I came out this morning, the collar was "off"...
and she was NOT pleased when I put it back...
but the bandage is really wrecked now...
so we're off...& then to Ahnoldtown...

Glad to see Molly doing well. I once dated a guy with a dog and one time took dog to vet. The vet advised wrapping pill up in a piece of American cheese. Worked like a charm. I was from the "cat camp" and used to "pilling a cat". Thought that giving a pill to an animal was struggling with it and getting it down. Dogs? Quite wonderful when it coms to giving pills. Just wrap it in something good and down it goes! I even saw special treats at the store made for inserting pills for dogs.
...Katie...my clumsiness is exacerbated by my lack of the top half of my right thumb... I have a lot of trouble now "pilling" cats that I didn't used to have...well, when I had 2 thumbs...
so the cat food meat ball w/antibiotic inside was great...
and you're right....
dogs will just slurp it down...
cats will hide it...then spit it out where you'll step on it... :P
Well, Catsinger, "motherhood" was never meant to be easy!! Sounds like Molly is a very loveable (and quite cute) handful! No doubt she loves you dearly for all you have done for her! Where else could she have gone where she would have so much "catpany?!"
Having had mostly just dogs my whole life I learned early on that you can give them just about anything if it is wrapped inside something good...which includes just about anything!
Here's hoping that Molly's incision will heal much faster than the 2 weeks and you and your household can get back to "normal!!"
Hugs to all!
