...just another afternoon in Mudville

just another afternoon in Mudville...
feeding the kitties then standing guard...
[that's Mackie on the blue & yellow bucket...
doesn't he look so much better ?]

and after waiting around for a couple of hours...
FedEx came...[they called at 7 AM...signature required...]
my other lenses, filters & equipment bag...
Molly's been patient...
so we'll walk soon...

I've unpacked & stored most of the baking supplies...
a bit more to do...but when we return from our walk...
I'm going to attempt to use my bread machine for the first time...

I'm going to use one of KAF's mixes that is formulated for the Zo...
[they use them in their test kitchens...]

my only concern with the mix...
is that everything is blended together...
[except the yeast...]
the Zo instruction book... the bread machine book I ordered...
and the helpful tips from MM, ALL said the same thing...
put the salt in the corner & the sugar under the yeast...

of course, in a mix...the sugar & salt are mixed in with the flour...
[yeast needs sugar to grow... salt will STOP yeast from growing...]
so I'm hoping for the best rise I can get...

I'm going to substitute dry milk for wet...
& use olive oil, instead of butter...
adding the oil to all the water...
[the total for the "water" & the milk...]
& the 1/4 C dry milk to the dry "mix"...
which goes on top of the liquid...
& making a well in the dry ingredients for the yeast

it's a multigrain mix with milled flax seeds...

I'm going to add a 1/4 C more & a handful of a seed mix...
I'll sprinkle sesame seeds on the top...

if it dies, Molly will like it...if it works...I'm off & baking..

I am out of bread, so I hope it works...

of course...I already knew that this would happen...

[heated pet bed...]

so I ordered another one for Molly...

she isn't cold at this point...
these guys are ALWAYS heat seekers...

here you see Molly's newest toys...except the fleece ball...
she was tossing it...I'm sure I'll find it soon...

and in the meantime...

my "twin sentinels"...Mackie & Molly...

ever vigilant for delivery persons or trespassers...

MM...it's in the final rise now...I'm sure glad you gave me those tips...
I did have to add a bit of flour & scrape down the sides...
the instructions didn't say to watch the first part of the knead...but you did... & I'm glad cause that's where I had to scrape the sides down & add the flour...then it came together...
so thanks ;D more details later...

M&CM... that's a thought...though I was thinking "brownies"...

a homemade soup & bread supper might be nice...

choose: lentil/kale/sausage soup...
green or yellow split pea w/ sausage or ham...
vegetable beef...
or homestyle pink beans w/hamhock
[that works best with cornbread...]
& a loaf of whole grain bread...

let me know what you want...
