...after rain

after rain... 5 days of it... finally "Sol" appears...

and in a sky so blue, it almost hurts to see it...

everything washed clean...
gleaming under the brilliant blue canopy...
with big puffy clouds...

some cotton ball white...
others tinged with shades of gray...
rolling across the blue palette...
like fluffy, weightless tumbleweeds, across the infinite prairie...

and the foliage...

the dust of months of dryness...cleansed...
the remaining crepe myrtle leaves...
vibrant red-orange, glow like stained glass...
against the unturned leaves of the liquid amber...
layered in depths of green...now clean & radiant...

the newly filled in mums...blossoms open full to the sun...
thankful for the good soaking...and now ...
for the bright sunshine...

the trumpet vine is turning yellow...
it's leaves will join the ruined choir of the creeper...
with the next good storm....
while the birds are making short work of the ripe creeper berries...
now fully exposed by the fallen leaves...

looking to the south...I watch leaves flutter to the ground...
as a freshening breeze rushes through the trees...

looking to the north as a cloud crosses the sun...
the breeze rattles the wind chimes...
encouraging me on to my task...

it's the time for snuggy fires & cozy nights...

and there's a price for everything...
