...farewell Creamer
I had spoken with the vet assist on Monday...
she thought that the meds were starting to work...
and I was supposed to check-in tomorrow...
perhaps to bring her home by the weekend...
but when the phone rang this morning...
I knew that it wasn't good news...
"...she seemed OK last night, although the diarrhea hadn't stopped yet..."
"...we found her, dead in her cage this morning..."
I find some comfort in the fact...
that we had some quality time when I took her in...
and I expected to see her again...
I didn't think that it was the last time...
I wish that I'd just had her put to sleep then...
but she seemed fine...seemed to be getting better...
there was hope for a better life together for us all...
when she returned... "better"... to live in her apartment...
the others have really accepted her departure easily...
after all, she was really nasty to them all...
and a walking toxic waste site when she was at large...
but as much of a problem as she was...and as nasty...
she was my little spider monkey kitty...
who reached her skinny kitten paw through the ASPCA cage...
grabbed hold of me & never let go until I agreed to adopt her...
I had gone there with a friend to get a kitten for her...
we both went home with furry friends that day...
her Hobbs died of pancreatitis several years ago...
he was 9...Creamer was 13...
both were loved, cared for & mourned...
can any of us ask for more ?
the Cornona virus that took Creamer & Mattie before their time...
probably also contributed to the deaths of Robbie, Frick, Bubba, Tippy...
and others over the last few years...
the good news ?
the 2 who tested positive for it have now died...
and the rest seem healthy...
if none of them carry the virus, it will die out...
and my thinning herd will remain stable for a while...
as stable as a group of "sr. catizens" can be, that is...
rest in peace, Creamer...
I will miss your silly self...

Catsinger, my heart mourns with you over the death of dear Creamer. With all the pictures you have shared I feel I know all of your kitties quite personally! How wonderful that you gave her a home and that she gave you her heart. Maybe someone else would not have "put up" with her nastier times and she would have ended up back at the shelter. You loved her to the last...what a precious gift!
My love and sympathy to you and the rest of the crew!
So sorry you lost another four-legged friend. :(
So, so sorry that you have lost your friend Creamer. I know how wonderful it is when a cat picks you instead of the other way around. It makes you feel particularly blessed that you can give that animal a home. Now poor Creamer's trials are over. You cherished her even when it the going was tough - what a lucky kitty she was. Take comfort from the affection of your "herd" and know that you did the very best for Creamer that you could.
...thanks to you all... I appreciate your kind thoughts...it was a nasty surprise to have it come so soon...
at least now I won't be waiting for "that" shoe to drop...
