...spring garden quiz

OK, fellow bloggers, we all love to take those quizzes...
you know, the ones with a number of words poorly spelled...
several tragic grammatical train-wrecks...
& we won't even get into syntax...

where we end up being identified about as accurately...
as I was when a career test I took in high school...
said my best career choice was "freelance shepherd"...
[OK...so I rigged the test...but you get the idea...]

so here's a different kind of quiz...

are you a garden wizard with a emerald thumb ?
[who composts their clippings...]
or do you just buy what's "purty"...
and hope it won't up & die on you ?

I took a camera excursion through my gardens...

the quiz...? can you identify what I picture here...
yes, they are just blooming, budding or leafing out...
but if you know your mulch from your compost...
you should be able to identify many, if not most of them...

just leave your guesses in the comments...
[collaboration is allowed...]

this, however...will be the hardest one...

bonus picture...

clue : they are NOT dried blossoms & this plant is pictured, "leafing-out"...
elsewhere in the quiz...
[& yes, the picture is "catty-corner", for better resolution...]

if you can guess what this is, you know your "dirt"...
and what grows in it...

here are the rest...ENJOY !

Catsinger, I loved your awakening garden but have to admit that I am a total "dumbo" when it comes to gardens...and dirt. One of your pictures looked like the blossoms on our Freestone Peach tree. Other than that...they were delightful to look at...but I'm a dunce!

OK, not fair for the east-of-the-Mississippi people! I would hazard a guess that almost none of those plants would survive in the southeast drought region. Besides, I go the "purty" route and hope the nursery only stocks stuff hardy in my zone. In other words - I got nothin'.

...oh, too bad...there were some BIG hints too...
like, what's in the dopey cat planter...?

thanks for playing though...

I hope I have some guesses, or this won't have been as much fun as Id hoped...

Well:
2 sort of looks like violets but it's white - are there white violets?

3 looks something like my pear tree blossoms

4 may be a kind of azalea

My dogwoods have buds that sort of look like 5

I've bought stuff that looks like 6 in dried flower arrangements, but never knew what it was - cock's comb?

7 might be a lily of a sort.

10 - japanese maple?

From your hint, is 11 catnip? Mine didn't look like that.

Are the blooms on 14 on your jade tree, or are they just in front (never saw one bloom)?

As for the bonus, I definitely would have guessed "dead tree".

Is the bonus a hybrid that can be smoked or baked in brownies?

...noooo...
but it is of the genus of one of several plants I gifted you with years ago..., though I don't think I've seen these on yours, which I see all the time...[huge hint...]
