...spring has definitely sprung, part 2

things in the back yard are waking up...

my ferns stay out all winter...
and this "Autumn fern"[in the basket]...
as well as the "Staghorn fern" on the garage wall...
peeking out from behind it...
are both beginning to stir in the warmth & extended light...

the "Boston", "sword" & "maidenhair" ferns on my table...
are also sending out new growth...

this basket fern was not protected enough here on the fence...
and its inhabitants died from exposure...

here you see some replacements, soaking up some water...
before I replant the fence basket...
[yes, that is spearmint you see...it was dry too...]

Mom's box of purple iris from the ranch...
she took them with her when she went into assisted living...
they almost died last summer...
but now, have gotten a new lease on life with all the winter rains...
maybe they'll actually bloom again...

all my other iris plants look good...
but no blooms in sight...

the Christmas cactii were blooming nicely earlier...
and actually, still are...
[this is their "warm weather home"...]

the wet winter revived my white "Margaritas" too...

as well as the yellow ones...

of course, now is camelia season...
the red one is almost finished...

but this harlequin red & white is just getting going...

more to come...
